Who is a surveyor?

What do we offer?

What for do you need an independent surveyor?

A surveyor - is a person, who, being independent, is engaged with thorough and detailed inspections, examinations, checkup, fixation of presence or lack of some fact, as well as giving recommendations in required sphere by orders of physical or juridical person.

A surveyor is a specialist, who investigates conditions of insurance (but not only) cases (harm to health; damage or loss of property, cargo as a result of fire, accident, flood, casualty etc.). A surveyor consults cargo owners and carriers; coordinates examination procedure; fixes damages, inspects (collects facts and evidences to state the reasons of damageaccident); studies documents, certificates; question witnesses; analyzes facts.

One of the numerous survey services is certification procedure. After determination of vessel or cargo condition, a surveyor issues a certificate with his signature, in which he verifies that, for example, the cargo is packed and stowed in holds according to present international and national requirements, and consequently, is safe for the vessel and will not be damaged during carriage. It is made on behalf both of a carrier to free from responsibility for cargo damage; and on behalf of a cargo owner of insurer in order to avoid extra expenses.

It is natural, that while shipping cargoes all participating parties are interested in confirmation of their obligations' compliance. The Shipper and the Receiver should be sure that the cargo is delivered in the very condition as it is stated in the contract; and the carrier should be sure that the quality of cargo has not changed during shipping. For these purposes the independent party usually carries out sampling at different stages of shipping (loading, transshipment, discharge). The sampling is made according to accepted or stipulated technology with the following storage of the samples up to one year.

Also, the independent party analyzes samples to state the quality of them and to compare it with contract conditions. Moreover, a surveyor will provide you full information about cargo quality and quantity at EVERY stage of its shipping, and will give you an opportunity to get promptly a professional consultation of a specialist how to minimize incipient losses.

In any lawsuit, an independent surveyor certificate serves as unchallengeable evidence, which has an exceptional legal effect. It is a survey certificate you can rely on, for example, during your disputes in *out a competently made certificate of independent survey company you claim will not be considered as justified enough, and it will be more difficult for you to prove your case.

The price of survey services is not very big compared with the price of cargo; however a surveyor makes it possible for you to secure your business against the appearance of contractors' baseless claims.
